After a few years of wranglin', fussin', cussin', and discussin', "It's About Time" was finally released in August 2007. This one's a bit different from the others -- still definitely country of course, but with a more raw, stripped-down feel and leaning towards the hillbilly side of the honky-tonk sound. It also focuses on songs with great stories to tell, and of course great playing from Austin's finest pickers -- Jim Stringer, Brad Fordham, Kevin Smith, Erik Hokkanen, and T Jarrod Bonta. I wrote or co-wrote 12 of the 13 songs, with the last track -- an epic murder ballad with an ontological bent -- penned by Jim Stringer.

"The Lowdown", my third record, was released in Summer 2002. As the title implies, this one angles a little more to the darker side of honky-tonk -- story songs, slinky shuffles, with a warm but real-life production approach (with the help of producer Derek O'Brien) and a definite emphasis on songwriting and vocals."

My second release for Texas Music Roundup, is named "That Kind of Lonely." Again, I had the same great players backing me up and the groove was there in the studio from the git go!
I'm every bit as proud of this CD as my first, if not more. It's got a little Rockabilly, a bunch of Shuffles, and two Waltzes! I wrote seven of the songs including "Almost Good Tonight" with Teri Joyce. I also recorded "From The Time I Get Up" which is a song by my good friend and band mate Timmy "The Topcat" Campbell.

"Hillbilly Heights" was my first CD for Texas Music Roundup Records back in 2000. I'm really proud of this record. The musicians who joined me on it are top notch and they are also good friends of mine.

Here are a couple of songs by the Lowells from a recent live recoding at Jovita's Cantina in Austin, Texas. You can hear the Lowells every Sunday night at the Continental Club and usually at Jovita's and the Longhorn every month. Come on out, it's a fun show!
